Memorial complex of the National Museum of the History of
the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
Historical museum of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945
was firstly inaugurated in the ex-Klovsky palace on the 17th
of October 1974. The inauguration of the memorial complex
created according to the project of the sculptor E. Vuchetin
and the architect E. Stamo took place on the Dniper hills
on the 9th of May 1981.
The memorial has collected several sublime monuments. The
monument to the Motherland is the central one of them. The
figure is 62 meters high but the whole structure – 102 meters.
There is museum in the substructure of this monument.
In 1994-1995 the third modern exposition was created. It contains
all shown relics and also recent documental acquisitions.
The exhibition occupies 16 hall that are more than 5 000 square
meters and numbers more than 15 000 of museum-pieces telling
about events of the World War II. The exposition halls are
topically and chronically tied by the symbolized “road of
war” created of the relics of the war times. There are such
primary topics as the war in the historical fate of Ukraine
and its people, a human on the war, the Ukrainian contribution
into the defeat of Nazism, the price of Victory.

The Memorial complex was established as National in June of 1996 according
to the Decree of President of Ukraine. |
