Favorite recreation place of Kievites – the Dniper park is better known as Truhanov island. The island is situated near the left bank of the Dniper River within Kiev.

Truhanov island is mentioned as Tuhanov or Tuhonov in historical documents. Probably the name of the island ensues from the name of Polovetsky khan Tugorkan. At the end of the 11th century summer place of his daughter (who was wife of Kiev prince Svyatopolk Izyaslavich) was situated on the island.
